The bachelor’s degree holder in Animal Science has his roots from northeast Iowa. Immediately after graduation, David McDonald got the opportunity to work in OSI Industries located in Chicago. He has since worked there and earned his way up to become the president and chief operating officer (COO). Before becoming the company’s president, he worked as the chairperson of the North American Meat Institute and commenced with OSI Industries as a project manager. The graduate from Iowa State University (ISU) pays back to the university by taking part in the university’s Agricultural Entrepreneurship Initiative.

Some of the little ways in which he has helped the institution is by creating opportunities for an internship at the OSI group for students from Iowa State University. David McDonald has worked with OSI Group for more than 30 years and has been a major player towards its growth and success. OSI has been an important team player in the food industry. The company is a world food provider aiming to deliver top-notch products and services to its client base. David McDonald ensures that a logistics team is maintained to pace up with the ever-evolving international market. The logistics team is tasked with working hand in hand with local marketers to ascertain that the needs of the customers are met without any hiccups.

Tasked with the duty of improving the company’s sustainability, David McDonald has maintained an international network with in-house teams and companies around the world. As the president, he has ascertained that every regional management office understands the tastes and culture of its local surroundings. He has made remarkable improvements in the company’s processing and production departments. The company has launched a frozen food processing plant in India, a beef processing facility in Poland and a modern feed mill in Shandong Province.

OSI Group recently acquired Baho Food, a Dutch manufacturer of deli meats, snacks and convenience foods. Commenting on the acquisition, David McDonald mentioned that it was a great channel towards broadening its presence in Europe. He continued to add that Baho Food’s portfolio of brands and products are in line with the current processing strengths of OSI Group while at the same time broadening the capabilities to provide state of the art services to the ever-changing needs of customers. All the five subsidiaries offer their services in 18 countries in Europe.
