The new school year is kicking off with the design challenge, which is part of the special advanced program called, International Manufacturing and Product Development, where students from Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising will be developing a line of sportswear (activewear) for the independent distributors from Herbalife Nutrition. Participating from students from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising will be divided into several teams and then challenged to design and create a cohesive activewear collection embodying a healthy, active lifestyle.


These students from FIDM will present their designs, including production and sourcing strategy, themes, fabric, and colors a team from Herbalife Nutrition and Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising faculty members. The final challenge of the students will require the whole team to show how they are going to merchandise the individual concepts of students as a cohesive collection. Additionally, each student is going to have the opportunity of participating in creating their design. The CEO of Herbalife Nutrition, Rich Goudis, stated that FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising) is among the world’s top design and fashion school, and it shares a like-minded devotion to innovation and excellence, which makes them an impressive partner for the design challenge.


He continued saying that their collaboration on the project gives an opportunity to the upcoming creatives to produce apparel that is inspired by their employees and entrepreneurs who are purpose driven in helping individuals lead a healthier, happier life. FIDM faculty and staff selected over 15 students to participate in the International Manufacturing and Product Development. This program has already started and will continue through late spring 2019. The vice president of FIDM, Barbara Bundy, stated that the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising has now partnered with a global brand 26 times to form a design competition that is meant for their students. Herbalife Nutrition joins companies like Nike, who have challenged and educated their students in new, inspiring ways.
