At just 27 years old, Badminton player Gareth Henry has become known in the sports world as a power player to keep an eye on.

Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Henry has made headlines for his record-breaking performances in both singles and doubles Badminton tournaments. He has competed in over 17 high-level competitions including the Carebaco International, the Santo Domingo Open, the Jamaica International, the Suriname International, and the Commonwealth Games, among others.

Gareth Henry isn’t the only Badminton player to come out of the Henry family. His older sister, Geordine Henry, is also a well-known figure in the sport. She has competed in both Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles in high-level competitions such as the Carebaco International.

During the 2011 and 2013 Carebaco International, Gareth Henry competed in the Mixed Doubles with his sister. The duo placed runner-up both years.

Gareth Henry has won gold medals in over eight different events including at the 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2017 Carebaco International in the Men’s Doubles and Men’s Singles. He has finished runner-up in seven different tournaments winning silver medals in each and bronze medals in two tournaments.

According to the Badminton World Federation, as of 2018, Gareth Henry had a total of 154 wins and 107 losses out of a total of 261 games played.

Henry has participated in tournaments since 2008 when he competed in the Pan Am Junior Championships winning a total of seven out of nine games.
