PETALING JAYA: National women’s shuttlers Pearly Tan-M Thinaah were unable to secure their second title of the year, losing to a Chinese pair in the women’s doubles final of the 2024 Arctic Open badminton tournament tonight.

They lost to world No 2 Liu Sheng Shu-Tan Ning of China 12-21, 17-21 at the Energia Areena in Vantaa, Finland.

Pearly-Thinaah, ranked world No 7, reached the final after defeating world No 6 Rin Iwanaga-Kie Nakanishi of Japan 21-19, 19-21, 26-24 in last night’s semi-final.

Tonight’s match was Pearly-Thinaah’s third final this year after capturing the Hong Kong Open title and finishing runners-up in the Korea Open last month.

Earlier tonight, independent professional shuttlers Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin Rumsani continued their winning streak when they won the men’s doubles title in a three-game thriller.
