PSV WANT LIVERPOOL DEFENDER

There has been speculation all summer regarding the potential new home of young Liverpool defender Sepp van den Berg. He is said to have garnered interest from teams throughout Europe.

The Dutch player arrived at Liverpool in 2018 and has spent the last three seasons loaned out to different clubs. First it was Preston North End, then Schalke, and he spent this past season at Mainz. He impressed the German team, who are said to be interested in a permanent transfer.

However, they may have some competition in the form of Eredivisie team PSV. The sticking point, as ever, is Liverpool’s asking price. They have priced the 22-year-old at £17m, which is out of the budget. According to Dutch news sources, if they can negotiate down to £13m, then they’d be amenable to a transfer.

It’s yet unknown if Mainz will ramp up their interest, but if there is competition, it’s likely that Liverpool will stand firm on their asking price. Van den berg’s preferences will also be taken into account. He spent a year getting familiar with the set-up at Mainz, but a move to PSV would mean a return home for the player.
