REPORT: KNICKS ARE ADDING TO TRADE WITH NETS FOR MIKAL BRIDGES

The New York Knicks made a big move before free agency last month, agreeing to a trade with the Brooklyn Nets to acquire standout wing Mikal Bridges.

The original parameters of the trade included New York sending five first-round picks, along with Bojan Bogdanovic to Brooklyn. Now, the Knicks are reportedly adding to the deal.

"The Knicks are signing-and-trading Shake Milton as part of Mikal Bridges/Bojan Bogdanovic trade to the Nets, who will also send Keita Bates-Diop to New York," NBA insider Shams Charania tweeted. "Milton will sign a three-year, $9 million contract, with over minimum in year one and two non-guaranteed years."

Fred Katz of The Athletic added that New York is also including Mamadi Diakite to the trade. Milton and Diakite were added for salary purposes.

"Knicks have to add salary to the deal in order to avoid being capped at the first apron," Katz explained.

Milton, who spent five seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers from 2018-23, suited up for three different teams in 2023-24. He began the year with the Minnesota Timberwolves, appearing in 38 games, before moving on to the Detroit Pistons and later the Knicks.

Diakite, meanwhile, played in three games apiece for the San Antonio Spurs this past season. Both players appeared in four playoff contests for New York.
