SUPER BOWL CHAMPION PASS RUSHER STILL AVAILABLE; SHOULD BEARS PREPARE OFFER?

The Chicago Bears are looking to strengthen their defensive line, and a proven pass rusher with Super Bowl credentials is available.

Most of the offseason chatter surrounding the Bears has concerned their re-vamped offense. That's what drafting an elite quarterback talent at No. 1 overall and adding an explosive receiver at No. 9 tends to do.

However, for Chicago to best its 7-10 record from last season in the upcoming campaign, it will need its defense to be formidable on a week-to-week basis.

The Bears have solid defensive personnel overall, but one area where they could use reinforcements is the defensive live.

The Athletic’s Kevin Fishbain acknowledged the D-line as an area of need for Chicago in a report released Monday.

Fishbain also suggested that free agent Emmanuel Ogbah would be a good fit for the Bears.

"General manager Ryan Poles and coach Matt Eberflus don’t need a full week of camp to know they could use another D-lineman who can get to the passer," Fishbain said. "Emmanuel Ogbah is ... a free agent ... There isn’t a lot of depth on the interior."

Ogbah, 30, won a Super Bowl in 2020 with the Kansas City Chiefs. He is still a potent pass rusher, having recorded 5.5 sacks last season for the Miami Dolphins.

Ogbah would bring winning experience to the upstart Bears, not to mention fulfill a gap in their defense. Will Chicago contact Ogbah's camp in the coming days?
