FORMULA 1 STAR FURIOUS WITH MAX VERSTAPPEN AFTER SUNDAY'S CRASH

A collision between Max Verstappen and Lando Norris cost each Formula One star a chance to win the Austrian Grand Prix.

Verstappen controlled the early stages of Sunday's race, but Norris gained ground on the Red Bull star. On the 62nd lap, both cars suffered punctures after their cars made contact on a turn.

While Verstappen continued to finish fifth despite a 10-second penalty, Norris's day ended early. After the race, a reporter asked Norris if he still respects Verstappen and would speak to his rival.

"I don't know, it depends on what he said," Norris responded. "If he says he did nothing wrong, then I lose a lot of respect for that."

Norris called the reigning champion's actions "reckless" and "stupid."

"It's still a tough one to take when we're fighting for the win," he added. "We're trying to be fair for my side, and he just wasn't ... I'm just gutted for the team."

Via Motorsport, Norris took issue with Verstappen's aggressive approach throughout the race. He felt Verstappen had gotten away with other violations before the collision ended his quest for his second victory of the season.

"He was doing things you're not allowed to do and not getting penalized," Norris claimed. "I expect a tough battle against Max. I know what to expect. I expect aggression and pushing the limits and that kind of thing. All three times he's doing stuff which can easily cause an incident. And in a way just a bit reckless – he seemed like a little bit desperate from his side."

George Russell capitalized on the incident to notch his second career F1 victory and first since November 2022.
