Jurgen Klopp has named his Euro 2024 favourites and made a strong prediction for England as their quarter-final showdown with Switzerland approaches.

The former Liverpool boss has been settling in to life in Mallorca with his wife, Ulla - and that lifestyle no doubt involves watching lots of football.

He has also been watching the tennis at the Mallorca Championship, having been decked out in sunglasses and a Germany shirt at the final, and playing padel since leaving Liverpool.

His beloved Germany will play Spain on Friday for a place in the semi-finals of the European Championship - but it is not the hosts who he fancies to go all the way.

'At the moment it looks like Spain can do it,' Klopp told ESPN's Agos Larocca.

He added: 'But Germany is good, France is good, and England will be better, definitely.'

Spain and Germany have arguably the smoothest ride to the last eight among the four teams he named.

England and France have won two and drawn two of their matches, never winning by more than a goal, though they were seen as the pre-tournament favourites.

Spain have been something of a surprise package under Luis de la Fuente and are the only nation to have won all of their matches so far.

They kicked off the campaign in style with a convincing 3-0 rout of Croatia before beating Italy and Albania 1-0.

La Roja conceded their first goal of the tournament when they went down to Georgia early in their last-16 clash, but came out swining after that and charged to a 4-1 win.

Meanwhile, Klopp has revealed which Liverpool star he has been in touch with recently.

While he did not name his favourite for the Copa America, he said he had 'texted Alisson'.

There was also time to give a brief personal update on how much he is enjoying his time in Mallorca, where he will enjoy a £3.4million 'ecological family paradise' villa

Asked what he likes most about the island, he said: What do you like about this island? 'Where can I start? I like everything about it, to be honest, but I'm not long enough here yet. We try to figure out what we like the most.'
