VIDEO: MLB GAME HAD NATIONAL ANTHEM STANDOFF ON THURSDAY

Before this Thursday's game between the Cincinnati Reds and New York Yankees officially started, the two sides engaged in a national anthem standoff. Although we didn't even know that was a thing prior to this afternoon, it was pretty awesome to witness.

Two members of the Yankees tried their best to take down Reds pitcher Graham Ashcraft, but they were unsuccessful.

As soon as the Yankees gave up in this standoff, Ashcraft turned to his dugout and started celebrating. It was an epic scene.

Check it out:

MLB fans couldn't help but laugh at this standoff between the Reds and Yankees. Of course, those who dislike the Bronx Bombers were happy to see them end up on the wrong side of this.

"Another win for America and America’s team," one fan joked.

Another fan tweeted, "Nothing beats a good anthem standoff."

"I don’t fully understand. But I don’t have to," a third fan wrote. "Go Reds!"

Technically, this standoff should go down as Ashcraft's second win of the week. Two days ago, he gave up three runs in five innings of work as the Reds defeated the Yankees by a final score of 5-4.

Overall, the Reds have dominated the Yankees in this series. In fact, they're a few innings away from completing the sweep.
