MICHAEL JORDAN TAKING NOTICE OF YOUNG NBA STAR

As the rest of us watched Anthony Edwards' coming out party against the Suns in Game 1 of the NBA Playoffs last Saturday, a certain GOAT was also paying attention.

According to NBA Today on ESPN, Michael Jordan observed closely as Edwards dropped 33 points while trash-talking Kevin Durant and the rest of the Suns.

Malika Andrews revealed that "His Airness" called the ESPN studios to discuss Edwards' special skillset with her colleagues Michael Wilbon and Stephen A Smith.

"A certain player who's regarded as the greatest to ever do it placed a phone call into this studio last weekend," Andrews said. "And he said to Wilbon and Smith, 'You know what? I like this kid, and maybe some of the comparisons aren't that far off.'"

Smith, too, touched upon the conversation on ESPN's "First Take" earlier on Monday.

"We're like, 'Yo, you seeing this?' Michael Jordan was like, 'That brother is special, no question about it.'"

The 22-year-old Timberwolves star isn't shying away from the MJ comparisons. In an interview with ESPN in February, an uber-confident Edwards said, "They're not wrong" when asked to address the praise.

Over the next month or so, Edwards could justify the comparisons by making noise in the playoffs, where Jordan's legend was born.

Edwards is averaging 28.5 points, 4.9 rebounds and 4.2 assists through his first 12 playoff games. Jordan averaged 38.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 6.2 assists through his first 12 playoff outings for the Bulls.
