NBA ANALYST CLAIMS 76ERS WILL REGRET PAYING PAUL GEORGE $212 MILLION

The Philadelphia 76ers made the decision to pay veteran star Paul George a maximum contract this offseason in hopes of winning a championship with Joel Embiid at the helm.

This move does however come with potential flaws. Embiid's prime could be wasted, or worse, he requests a trade if George and the other acquisitions fail to push the Sixers over the hump.

Bleacher Report took things a step further with George's four-year, $212 million contract, listing it as the deal Philadelphia will regret the most.

"The Sixers brought the top free-agent wing to play with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. When healthy, George is a tremendous shooter, scorer and defender," B/R's Eric Pincus wrote. "But at 34, he showed signs of slowing down in L.A. with the Clippers last season (even as an All-Star), and his health record isn't the best (though not as bad as Leonard's).

While the Sixers' roster is much improved, their route to the NBA Finals is far from easy. The Eastern Conference is the best it's been in years, with the reigning champion Boston Celtics leading the charge. The extent of Philadelphia's success simply comes down to the health of their Big Three when the lights shine brightest.

"Philadelphia took a risk with immediate upside, but the contract may be haunting if the franchise doesn't go deep into the postseason," Pincus wrote. He rated the potential regret level at a 7/10.
