COLLEGE TEAMMATE WAS KEY IN BRONCOS DRAFTING BO NIX

The Denver Broncos did a ton of homework on Bo Nix and had him ranked as QB3 on their draft board. Knowing that Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels would likely be long gone by the time they went on the board, they locked in on Nix.

As part of that homework, the team went to Alex Forsyth, a center who played with Nix at Oregon in college. Forsyth gushed over his ability and almost certainly helped sell the team on the idea of taking him, something Sean Payton and company didn't hesitate to do based on how quickly they turned in their first-round draft card.

Now, Nix and Forsyth are lined up to be the starting quarterback-center combination for the team for many years to come. After losing Lloyd Cushenberry to free agency, the Broncos will be looking for a new starting center this season and Forsyth will be in competition with Luke Wattenberg and Sam Mustipher for that job.

Based on his familiarity with Nix, Forsyth should be considered the betting favorite going into the season.
