JERRY JONES DOESN'T SEEM TO KNOW HOW THE NFL DRAFT WORKS

The Dallas Cowboys haven't exactly lived up to Jerry Jones' promise that they will go "all-in" this offseason, but that can change this weekend.

The Cowboys have seven picks in this weekend's NFL Draft, including the No. 24 overall pick during Thursday's first round.

Jones attempted to highlight that pick while speaking to the media ahead of the draft.

According to longtime Cowboys reporter Clarence Hill Jr., the Dallas owner said that the Cowboys had the 24th pick because they were the 24th best team in 2023.

As many fans pointed out, that is not how the NFL Draft works.

Dallas is picking 24th because they lost in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.

At 12-5 last season, the Cowboys had the best record of any team to lose in the Wild Card round, putting them further in the draft order than teams like the Eagles, Dolphins and Rams.

The Cowboys have some needs that need to be addressed in the draft, with the offensive line and running backs being among the most glaring.

Dallas lost Tyler Biadasz and Tyron Smith from their stellar offensive line, ending the tenure of one of the best collective units in the league.

Leading rusher Tony Pollard is also gone, replacing Derrick Henry with the Tennessee Titans.

With several top offensive linemen projected to be taken in the first round this year, the Cowboys should have no shortage of options at tackle if they choose to go that direction.

Jones and the rest of the Cowboys have drafted relatively well over the last few years, and they'll need his player evaluation skills to be better than his assessment of the draft process if they want to be successful in 2024.
