NEVADA SUPREME COURT HAS RULED ON JON GRUDEN'S REQUEST

Week 1 of the NFL season is still a couple of months away, but former Las Vegas Raiders head coach Jon Gruden was already handed a loss this week.

On Monday, the Nevada Supreme Court rejected Gruden's request to reconsider if his lawsuit against the NFL should be heard in arbitration.

Gruden filed a lawsuit against the NFL in November of 2021. He accused the league of forcing him to resign from his position with the Raiders by leaking old emails. In case you forgot, his emails featured racist, homophobic and misogynistic language were exposed.

From the Associated Press:

Attorneys for Gruden, the league and an NFL spokesman didn't respond to messages after notice was posted Monday on a court website. It wasn't immediately clear whether Gruden can seek a hearing before all seven state Supreme Court justices.

Gruden's lawyers sought the rehearing after a three-justice panel split in a May 14 decision that said the league can force the civil case out of state court and into arbitration that might be overseen by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

It's possible Gruden asks the U.S. Supreme Court to take his case, but we're not sure that will go over well.

Gruden has been out of the NFL since the 2021 season. He did, however, spend time with the New Orleans Saints last year during training camp. The franchise considered him an offensive consultant, albeit he only made a few visits to the Bayou.

It was then announced this past March that Gruden was joining the Milano Seamen of the European League of Football.

"We’re excited to announce that American football legend, Jon Gruden, will work with us as advisor," the team said. "Gruden won in 2002 Super Bowl with Tampa Bay. Gruden will help us to improve our organization in every aspect. He already started to work with our coaching staff."

Gruden has not yet released a statement on his legal situation. We'd have to imagine that'll happen very soon.
