TEXAS RUNNING BACK TRANSFERRING AFTER TEAM'S SPRING GAME

A member of the Texas Longhorns running back room has decided its time to look for opportunity elsewhere following this weekend's Orange-White spring game.

According to On3.com's Pete Nakos, Texas RB Ty Woods has announced he plans to enter the transfer portal. Woods spent the last two seasons in Austin where he appeared in just three games on special teams in 2023.

Woods was a three-star recruit coming out of League City, TX two years ago where he starred at Clear Springs High School. He was a first-team all-district selection as a sophomore, received first-team all-district honors as a junior and won Texas District 24-6A Ironman of the Year as a senior.

Woods also ran track where he clocked a 10.92 100m dash as an upperclassman.

Coming out of Clear Springs, the 5-foot-9 running back's college list was made up of Texas, Air Force, Dartmouth and Tulane.

Woods was considered one of the top 150 runners in the country when he made his decision to join the Longhorns. Now he'll look to see where he can find a way to get on the field in the portal.

Woods' departure leaves UT with seven RBs on its roster led by 1,000-yard rusher Jonathan Brooks.
