STEPH CURRY SHARES EMOTIONAL TRIBUTE TO KLAY THOMPSON AFTER 'SPLASH BRO' LEFT WARRIORS TO JOIN THE MAVERICKS ON $50M DEAL AFTER 13 SEASONS TOGETHER

Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry shared an emotional tribute to shooting guard Klay Thompson as he leaves the Dubs to join the Dallas Mavericks

After 13 seasons together, the 'Splash Bros' are parting ways as Thompson departs the Bay Area for the Mavs on a three-year, $50million deal.

On Tuesday, a day after the deal was announced, Curry littered his Instagram stories with 30 pictures of himself and Thompson over the years. At the end of the photo dump, the all-time leader in three-point shots wrote a heartfelt message to his long-time running mate.

'Gonna miss you, @klaythompson,' Curry wrote. 'Even though we won't finish the journey together, what we did will never be done again. Couldn't imagine a better run with you and @money23green.

'Changed the whole Bay area. Changed the way the game is played. Killa Klay at the center of it all. Thank you for everything bro. Go enjoy playing basketball and doing what you do.'

'Splash bros 4 life my guy,' Curry ended his message.

The photo dump included snaps from their earlier years and through their dynasty years with the franchise.

As teammates, Curry and Thompson set the bar higher for three-point shooting and influenced a generation of players with their ability from long range.

Alongside forward Draymond Green and under coach Steve Kerr, the Splash Bros brought Golden State their fourth franchise title in 2015 by beating LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

They would win two more titles in 2017 and 2018 after Kevin Durant joined the Warriors. After three non-championship seasons, the Dubs secured another title in 2022 - against Boston - with Curry, Thompson, and Green at the core.

Despite struggling regain his championship form after an ACL tear in 2019, Thompson will likely play a big role when he arrives in Dallas.

Behind the dynamic duo of Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic, the Mavericks appeared in the NBA Finals earlier this year before losing to the Celtics in five games.

Meanwhile, the Golden State missed the playoffs after a tenth-seed finish in the West. They held a 46-36 record and lost to the Sacramento Kings in a play-in game that ended up being Thompson's last in Warriors colors.
